Wow! You polished the heck out of it. :goodjob: Man it looks good. I had to polish the brass on my bosses Model T many times and I know how much work that is.

I gotta admit, when I read the title for this post I was thinking you got "scallops" or a skull design on your grips to compete with Ape's flame job. :funny:

Wow! What materials/methods are you using to polish it up? I have a couple that could use a good shinin'.

Just a Dremel with various grits of compound sticks mostly. I do have a small 4" cotton buff with rouge on my bench grinder for the larger areas. Once I get the whole thing done like this to reveal all the deeper scratches, I'll go back over those problem areas with 800-2000 grit wet/dry paper and then re-buff.
So far, the toughest areas, and one's that'll need more work, have been the cylinder and hammer.

Have you thought about buying a real basket case gun to keep you busy during the winter?

If I could find one I'd think about it, sure.

After approx. 30 hrs. I'm takin' a break.

You can see that the polishing and buffing brought the deeper scratches into view and those areas now get treated to some sandpaper before a rebuff. That'll bee the most time consuming part. Just removing enough material to make it smooth.
Got all winter to do it though.
