I just recieved a copy of The National Shooting Sports Foundation Industry Intelligence Reports 2009 edition of Small Arms Production and it lists the 2007 production numbers for firearms companies and, as you can see in the title, Heritage Manufacturing is listed as the third largest producer of revolvers with a number of 39,352 products made for the year!

The two companies that produced more revolvers were Smith & Wesson (1) and Ruger (2).

North American Arms came in 4th with a revolver production number of 31,893

Colt was way down in the revolver production cycle with only 4,785 revolvers made in 2007.

Now these are companies that have their factories in the U.S. and that is why Taurus and Rossi did not have revolver production numbers listed. In fact, Rossi wasn't on the listing at all and Taurus only had pistol numbers listed; No revolvers.

Heritage Manufacturing Inc. also rated higher over all in firearm production with a rating of 20th in the top 25 companies, beating Cobra, Saeilo inc, Colt,North American Arms, and Springfield Inc., respectively.

So hurray to Heritage for makijng such fine revolvers! Keep up the great work!

Pretty cool info there!
But I have to admit I'm not all that surprised. Much like Hi Points, it's hard to deny good products at a reasonable price. No matter what gun snobs prefer to say. ;)

What amazes me is how many they produce, given the size of their factory. It makes me wonder what they could do if they had room for expansion. :grin1:

thats OK, just one more fact to put on my wall . Ill tell you a little secrit, Rugers produced a few lemons also, and like heritage they got there reputation by standing behind them. ruger got there start just like heritage , as a lower priced alternative. in 1953 colt had ended production of the SAA. prices were up on used ones, and ruger saw a market for a low priced revolver. sound familier? DR

Funny part is DR, that gun snobs like Craig ignore logic like that in favor of their own idealized fantasy's of what's real and whats not.

Weren't the original Vaqueros known for popping cyl. pins loose during firing? Or did I manage to get the only 2 that did? :dunno: Has anyone else heard this? Gun store took one of mine back, I'd got it used and fixed the other. This was not with hot loads either but mild stuff. I'd always wondered why the stop to prevent full removal of the pin. I like Rugers and will own their guns without a qualm, but they're not perfect.

You can go to

http://www.atf.gov/firearms/stats

for more info.

The ATF's latees AFMER is for calender year 2007, since the agency embargoes the data for a year.

As for prices going down; With all the money being printed now, I say buy one before inflation kickes in big time!

they were also known to shoot there barrels out on the first few. also had batches of single sixes that would shoot there barrel loose. but not to dig at ruger, they have done a great job of cleaning up these messes.
