Forum rules

As with any great game there are rules.

1: This is a Family Site that means:
__ a: No sexually explicit pictures or avaters.
__ b: No vulgar profanity. (Keep it PG)
__ c: No personal insults (Argue the point, not the person.)

2: Keep all political/religious debates civil. Different viewpoints are good. Hating someone for that different is bad.

3: No "smack-talk" of someone elses gun. Every gun is a Heirloom to it's owner.

4: No spamming or fly-by-night sales. This isn't free-advertising.com! Go sell your stuff somewhere else.

5: If you don't like guns or shooting hobbies, go somewhere else! There are other places to go that feel that way and would love you to join them. Let us enjoy our hobby!

6: Have fun! You're here to relax and enjoy yourself. Keep it light and don't get caught up in the gun-smoke!

...... recognize this? Mossberg 464 30-30. Rifle resembles a Win. 94 RangerAE but there are differences. Bridge over rear of receiver just ahead of locking lugs, round bolt to name a couple. Mine is stock except for the Uncle Mike's sling swivel kit.

Ape is so gonna hate us! :grin1:

I like the bridge and the round bolt because they add stregnth to an already stout gun. What sort of sling are you going to put on it? Leather or Southwest stylized?

I've found the action to be a little rough at first, but I've been "racking it" while watching tv to smooth it out. (I triple checked the rifle to make sure it was empty.

Great choice there!

Thanks for the kind words ! :grin1: The slings I prefer are the plain ol' 1" leather type(see the Marlin39as pic). These work well both for carrying and for use as a hasty sling in steadying when firing offhand.
The actions (believe it or not) aren't all that bad (for a centerfire cal. gun these days). The Marlin30-30s may be slicker, mine sure is but it's 25yrs old too. Perhaps we're spoiled by our Henry 22s and their slick actions? :hmmmm: :grin1:

PS Ape won't hate us...... after he buys a lever and joins the fun of 'em! :shocked1: :gunslinger: Like I didn't hate HP fans after I bought my 4095! I was glad for the advice and he will be too! :clap2:

Yep! I am so rooting for Ape on the lever action.

My wife just told me that she's thinking about trading in her 410 single shot for one. (All her rifles are .22 mag. and she wants something with a little more punch to it. ) I plan on letting her try the 30-30 the next time we go to the range. It'll be fun!

KB, I have a question for ya.

Does the trigger on your 464 seem to "wiggle" a bit with the safety on? Not side to side, but back and forth. mine seems to do this and I wonder if tis normal.

Normal, I'm sure Ulmus. Mine does wiggle also and as the safety is on the hammer (by blocking it from reaching the firing pin) the trigger is actually "uninvolved" if you would. Take (unloaded ) rifle in hand and cock and decock both with safety on and off. You'll note how hammer can be pushed against firing pin when lowering it with safety off but not with it on. Yeah, our triggers are ok. Hope this helps,if not let me know.

Cool, I was worried that I accidentally broke a spring with a dry fire.
