Hello from a Heritage Rough Rider newbie. I got a .22 combo witha 4 3/4" barrel today, for $159.99. Most places in eastern NC charge $189 and more. I guess Black Friday helped with the price.

The revolver shoots four inches to the right and 2 to 2 1/2" high. I understand that I can bend the front sight to the right to straighten her out. Would someone describe the procedure for doing this? I would really hate to mar and/or break the front sight on my new revolver. Thanks.

First congrats on the new addition. before I started bending I would try several brands of ammo. differant velosity and bullit weights will give you a differant point of inpact [poi] most of my fixed sighted revolvers are sighted to use a "6 o clock hold", that is if I was shooting at a clock face I would be seeing the 6 o clock position on top of my front sight. after I found the best ammo and aiming position then look at bending and filing to get it perfect. good shooting, DR

dangerranger, thanks for the reply. I don't think ammo selection will fix this. Being that I have a motley selection of LR ammo, I'll give them all a try. It is high and right with the .22 LR cylinder as well as the 22. mag cylinder. I can deal with the high POI, but not the 4" right, at 10 yards. The LR ammo I used was Winchester 333s. The magnum rounds were Winchester Super X HPs.

Heritage's web page suggests bending the front sight and I wanted to hear others experiences with this, before I messed up. I've asked about bending the front sigh,t on other forums, and I'm not getting a lot of reponses. It must not be done a lot?

theres alot of debate on bending. the old excepted method was turning the barrel to correct sighting errors. but manufactures are now recomending bending the front sight instead. actually turning the barrel will void your waranty. a small cresant wrench should do the bending. it wont take very much to do the job. just rember that a front sight adjustment is in the oposite direction that you want to move your group. [ bend right to move left] DR

Thanks dangerranger. Bending with a wrench sounds better than wacking the front sight with a hammer. I guess a wrench that is close to the width of the sight would be better. Lock a vice-grip plier to the sight and bend at the bottom? Lock the barrel in a padded vice? I'll think this over before proceeding. I'll post the results. Thanks again.

Just be sure and tape up the sight blade so that you do not scratch the finish while bending.
A vice grip or channel lock would work well but may "bite" the sight blade.
I would try with a small crescent wrench as DR suggested since the grip surfaces are flat.

Yea, I think a hammer will work better as a typewriter repair tool! I dont think you will have to move it more than 1/16". I recently had to add to the front sight of an old model ruger it was hitting about 10" high at ten yards. I was supprised at how little I had to add to correct it. DR

I called Heritage this morning and I spoke with Summer. She suggested that I bend the front sight. I told her that I had read about bending the sight on their web page, but that it did not say how to do it. She said to put tape on the front sight and use a pair of pliers to bend it. She said it wouldn't take much and to go slowly. It took four tries to bring the LR cylinder in. Still high though. The Magnum rounds are still hitting everywhere. I mean it's like I'm shooting six different magnum revolvers!! I called Summer back. She spoke to me, asked if I minded being put on hold, spoke to me again and asked if I minded if she called me back later. I told her sure and she took my number. While waiting for her call, I decided to call the dealer I bought it from and he said to bring it in to him, that they would take care of it. He said they would send it back to Heritage for repair. I returned the revolver this afternoon. Summer hasn't called back yet. So, that's where I'm at.

I'm surprised that Summer didn't call back. Usually they're good about that. :dunno:

Glad to hear the dealer you bought it from is helping you out. With the mag rounds moving as much as you say they are, I'd send it back, too.

It should be like a different gun when you get it back.

I received an email from Heritage tonight, inquiring how the sight bending went. That makes me feel better. :clap2:

I replied back about taking the gun back to the dealer and that they (Heritage), should be getting it within a few days.

Glad they got back to you.

If you want some horror stories about service, I can tell you about the nice run around I had today trying to deal with my tankless water heater. :scared: :groan:

Heritage customer service is cooking. This afternoon, I got another email from Elise. She expressed her sorrow that the revolver had to be returned and that she would let the warranty department know to expect it. She said they would call me, let me know what was wrong and what they did to fix the problem. I'm developing a huge amount of respect for Heritage service! WOW! Emails from them two days in a row! They really care.
