This was my favorite rifle to shoot on media day.

What's nice about it is that you can convert your Neos pistol to a carbine very easily and don't have to buy a whole new rifle.

With the skeletonized stock and light weight, it's an easy all day carry gun.

It was my first time shooting any Neos and after I became aquainted with it we had some fun!

I did have two jams but I owe that to my rush in filling the magazine. (I didn't seat the bullets properly after loading.)

I always like the idea of being able to have a pistol and carbine/rifle at a low price and think this works well. I can't remember the price off-hand but I'll find out.

This is a fun auto loader!

I do like the look of it. But someone else somewhere else found that the price is going to be right around 250.00 for it. :? Seems a bit high to me. :dunno:

And what about the legality of having a "spare short" barrel laying around without a receiver specifically for it ?

I have no great love for the "revenuers" with the Always Think Forfeiture mindset but would hate to run into some of the penalties for doing so accidentally.

I'm not sure about the legality's of having one jj. But I do know there are other pistol to carbine kit's out there already. And I'd be willing to be Beretta did some good fact finding before even beggining to make prototypes of this set up. :wink1:
Of course the State in which you reside can play a big part in the legality of it. And as always check your local statutes and laws before buying anything. :wink1:

Actually Ape, Beretta has been trying for years to get this to market.
When we got our NEOS last year there was and still is a page in the Beretta online catalog for it.
Word was around forums that the kit has been designed and sold over seas since the NEOS hit the market but for the very reasons JJ brought up could not win BATFE approval for sale here in the States.
The fact that it is at Shot and is shown in its packaging, not to mention was there in a working fashion (read I hate Ulmus for shooting it), makes me very hopeful that they have finally won the war on this one.

I'd be interested in hearing what their legal woe's have been to bring it to market here in the States.
Especially since there are other kits out there for other handguns already. :hmmmm:

Most "other" kits were older in design (read pre-ban) many for 1911s even for the Glock 18 (but that is LE only IIRC so does not count really).

The Midway USA site says they expect the carbine kits to be in stock soon. They also say that their price will be $280.

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=418332

The going price for a new Beretta NEOS seems to be around $250. This means that (not even considering possible, additional taxes, background check fees, etc.) the total cost of this package will be in excess of $500. I'm glad this seems to be coming out for people who want them but to me, that's a lot of dough to end up with one .22LR firearm, convertible or not. Especially when one could buy both a rifle and a handgun in .22LR for less than that.

Sure is pretty cool, though!

Consider the price of a Walther P22 or a Sig Mosquito ($350 to $400)
Now consider that the NEOS is a point and shoot target gun that can run circles around either.
$500 for a convertible pistol/carbine that is dead on accurate is not really that bad a price.
I'd take it tree rat hunting in either configuration without a second thought.

I was wondering if that might be the reson behind the other kits out there. :hmmmm:

As for the price of the kit......... I have to agree with JAB on this one. :?
I've heard good and bad things about the NEOS, but I attribute the bad to simple .22 issue's you can find in any .22 gun. That's one of the most difficult calibers to have function correctly all the time it seems.
But in order for me to buy a 300 dollar .22 handgun and a 300 dollar conversion stock for it, I'd need to have money falling out of my pockets before I bought the kit. :?

It's defnitely a cool lookin get up though! I'm glad they stayed with their "space modulator" look of the NEOS with this kit. :wink1:

I don't own a Neos, but I'm thinking the best way to get this combo would be to find an inexpensive used Neos and then get the conversion kit for it.

Otherwise you could get a Ruger pistol and a 10/22 rifle with that money. :?

Hi guys, yeah, I'm not dead, just been trying to get caught up with reading and work. ( Just got back from a nice week's cruise. )
Since I have a Neos, I've been following the carbine kit activity a bit. Mainly Beretta was waiting the outcome of a fed case against Thompson, before letting it out. I almost bought one of the kits last weekend. Found it for $250, which would have been ok, except I didn't like the idea that the barrel was plastic with a steel sleeve. I realise they had to do that for weight considerations, but I think aluminum would have been light enough, and much stronger. I'm still thinking about it though, but then, I don't really need another .22 rifle.

Well welcome back stranger! :clap2:

Is it "plastic"? Or some type of Carbon fiber mix?
