If anyone owns the Stealth made by Heritage and needs a copy of the Owner's Manual, here's the link.

http://stevespages.com/pdf/heritage_stealth.pdf

It's a PDF so you can print it out.

Huh, I wasn't aware of that either. Kinda ugly, to my eye, anyhow - grip tapers down to the mag well, looks odd.
Quote:
Upon firing the round, the excess gas present in the Barrel, is released through a Gas Piston Hole located directly in front of the Chamber. This re-routed gas exp and slides within the Piston Cylinder and works against the Gas Piston thus pushing the Slide forward in the same direction as the bullet accelerating down the Barrel. Due to this forward force acting on the Slide, the Breech will remain closed during firing of your Stealth. On the recoil stroke, commencing as soon as the bullet leaves the Barrel, the Gas Piston moves past the Gas Port Hole, trapping air within the Gas Cylinder. The trapped air. within the Gas Cylinder, then works as a shock absorbing air cushion and now minimizes the recoil.
Certainly a unique method, and I'll bet it was a PITA to clean. Probably why it didn't live long and prosper.

Actually it was brought up off camera that the reason why Heritage switched to the Rough Rider was the fact that they could produce nearly double the amount of firearms in the same period and had better market penetration.

The Stealth is roughly the same size as the Kel-Tec P-11 and the then selling SKYY. Given how many more "pocket 9s" there are now verses .22 SAAs, I think Heritage made a wise decision.

BTW: I'm also "on the lookout" for a Stealth but my radar can't seem to find them! :dunno:

Well let me know if anyone ever stumbles onto one at a reasonable price. I'd love to have one! :cool1:

Don't know that I'd look twice at a 9mm version but if I saw a .40 version at a good price (and being that it says 'Heritage' on it, how could it not also have a good price?) I'd have to seriously consider it. I hope that the system quoted above by whichfinger really would reduce recoil a bit. Otherwise, the recoil from a .40 in a 20 ounce, straight blowback gun could get a little rough.

ETA: Did a quick Google search and what I am finding is that the Heritage Stealth appears to be pretty much the exact, same gun as the Truvelo ADP (Advanced Defense Pistol) and the Wilson Combat ADP. Apparently, the only difference was/is a few hundred dollars in price.

Hmmm...maybe a company like Wilson could be convinced to start selling Rough Riders under their name, too (not that Heritage should stop selling them as Rough Riders for those of us who realize their value.) Then when gun snobs brag about their 'Wilson ASAR' (Advanced Single Action Revolver) that they paid $600 for and how much better they are than our HRRs we bought for $200 or less, we can just chuckle at our little inside joke.

JJ try putting in in manually instead of using the link.

The site owner did warn about too much bandwith-downloads from a person so maybe the site itself is thinking my link is coming from one person.
